Blue Devil Attacks Human Hearts

By David Tracy • May 21st, 2008 • Category: Auto Industry, Car Reviews, Shows

People are emotional creations and that’s why we need permanent energy reinforcement. Fortunately there are some things in our life which feed us by energy. I don’t mean some drags or something negative for our health but certainly something perturbing our hearts. Yes, everything mentioned above is dedicated the “heavy artillery” and an alive legend of world automobile industry - Chevrolet Corvette!

In 1951 the group ” Special projects ” of corporation General Motors under management of Harley Earl has begun development of new model. On that time nobody could even think that the vehicle will receive such a light future.
Various names were given this brand, among them the most suitable is Blue Devil and let me explain why.

The most powerfull modification of model Corvette - ZR1 was presented at 2008 Detroit Auto Show. The vehicle’s got the new LS9 (standard engine for Corvette in 9-th generation) supercharged and intercooled engine V-8 of 6,2-liter which has some common features with the Z06’s LS7. The 9-th generation of LS is equipped by low-profile Eaton that itself combines plenty of new devices among them sport four veins instead of three, greatly improving volumetric efficiencies while reducing parasitic losses. Final power will exceed 620 h. p. and torque around 600 lb-ft, while the target is 650 h.p.

New Corvette - ZR1 has got a new front bumper with the developed spoiler in his underbody, new outbowed hood with transparent insertion, opening a new engine, will appear in a center. Besides the extended wheeled archs will appear with additional vent openings, hydrocarboxylic roof, facilitated back glass and new final system with four enormous union couplings.

Well, the Corvette development team took weight out of the ZR1 wherever possible. Carbon fiber is used extensively, practically everywhere, especially panels of the roof and roof pillars.

Brakes. Discs are huge carbon-ceramic units that are clamped on by six-piston Brembo calipers in front and four-piston units in the rear. The rear discs are as large as the fronts found on other supercars.

GM convinces the ride of the ZR1 is more compliant than Z06. Tire size increases at both ends, with 19-inch rims in front and 20-inch rims in the rear sporting 335/25Z/20 Michelin PS2s.

According to the Harlan Charles, Corvette Product Planner, the ZR1 will be offered in seven colors and offer two wheels, one of which is expected to be chrome.

The prices for Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 in the USA will reach a little bit more then one hundred thousand dollars. Besides there is an interesting option, in propect the management of GM is going to sale Corvette ZR1 just in a complete set with the free teaching at the school of driving skills. And I suppose it is succesfull decision because of the character of this supercar.

So, at this moment we can just congratulate the GM. I look forward to opportunity of complex Chevrolet Corvette ZR1’s test-drive, the test-drive of a monster which got out from a racing track on the city roads to conquer them.

  1. Is that photo backwards, or is that the British model?

  2. I got to drive one of these for about 6 months. I had butt sex with a Car Dealer and he let me use it.
